About
My name is Kyle Arendas, and I am a communications professional. I graduated in 2022 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree media and journalism. I was born and raised in the Charlotte area and have called Mooresville home for the past 18 years.
At UNC, I was an executive producer for the student-run newscasts, Carolina Week and Carolina Now. I stacked shows, edited video, wrote scripts, executed live shots and operated studio equipment. I also worked at the Daily Tar Heel as a reporter and copyeditor.
These student experiences gave me the necessary background to become a successful intern at Fortune 500 companies like Lowe’s Companies, Inc. and Fox Corporation. WBTV Charlotte and Fox News Channel. At Lowe’s, I was a copywriter intern, creating content for lowes.com and helping our customers better understand our products. I also worked on a project with another intern to reimagine DIY offerings for children. My time at Fox News Channel included covering business news and politics. I was responsible for the daily Biz Report, meaning I had to closely monitor the markets and build appropriate graphics. I also worked during the 2020 presidential election, editing videos, building graphics, writing scripts and monitoring former President Donald Trump’s campaign activities. Both of my internships Fortune 500 companies have given me the necessary skills to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and help communicate complex ideas to the public.
I also worked for local companies such as WBTV and the Statesville Record & Landmark. At WBTV, I helped produce the 4, 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts. Some of my tasks included writing broadcast scripts and editing videos, but I also pitched story ideas and monitored breaking news. For my local news paper, I covered events throughout Iredell County and the Lake Norman community. Writing for my local TV stationed newspaper has given me a strong background in AP Style, video editing, SEO and research.
